Issues/Challenges for Client
Much of the stock is shipped over from China with large quantities of mixed SKU’s in each container. Other SKU’s come from UK manufacturers in palletised shipments. A small percentage of the stock requires use by dates for international markets. Same day shipping is required for all orders. Orders are generally a mixture of SKU’s. Some SKU’s eg empty bottles and pumps require bin locations rather than pallet locations and frequently bottles require filling to complete orders. The client is still growing quickly and wanted to import bulk quantities and despatch, with a same day service, in smaller retail sized quantities but they did not have the resource or the facilities to do this.
Full container unload service with 2 days required notice, each container is unloaded, sorted, palletised and put away within a three hour window to avoid charges by the container company. Palletised deliveries are received within normal working hours with no notice required and occasionally we receive urgent deliveries outside normal hours of operation. All orders received before 2 pm are shipped by 3pm. Use by dates are tracked and monitored and a first in first out system is used to ensure stock efficiency. Orders of multiple SKU’s are repackaged to reduce shipping costs. Shipments are dispatched both by courier and palletised to achieve the most cost efficient solution. We developed a bespoke order fulfillment service, including bottle filling which is performed by our in house team, and we run a requirement prediction system to ensure we can fulfill orders for these the same day they are received.
Our solution gives the client an extremely cost efficient and reliable service with transparent costings. Our internal stock control system has allowed the client to transfer stock control to our team and freed up a member of their own team to make further sales. Returns have dropped to less than one per month. In March 796 parcels of multiple SKU’s were dispatched.
